HELP provides education and practical strategies in real-life settings, supporting clients to manage pain effectively. The 18-session programme, delivered over three months, can be a stand-alone programme or integrated into the SROT programme. The programme builds an understanding of how pain is generated and develops strategies to reduce pain signals while improving daily function.
- Body – Education on pain and strategies for managing sleep, nutrition, pacing, and fatigue to support balanced activity levels.
- Mind – Strategies for managing fear, anxiety, stress, and other emotions that impact pain, using evidence-based approaches.
- Environment – Assessing and adapting surroundings to improve daily function, including work readiness and problem-solving barriers to employment.
A Specialist Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist delivers the programme, which includes a lifelong workbook. HELP is MDT-based and can integrate with existing professionals or include coordination as needed.
